Closeness that brings us together

The first few months are characterized by closeness, security, and trust. In the LIINI® baby carrier, your baby can feel your heartbeat, your warmth, and your movements—right where they feel most comfortable.

Being carried gives babies a sense of security and helps foster a close bond between parents and child. At the same time, you’ll have your hands free for all the little and big moments of everyday life.

Sometimes your baby doesn’t need a stroller. Just you.

A good baby carrier should not only be comfortable for your baby, but also for the people who wear it every day.

The LIINI® baby carrier supports your baby’s natural spread-squat position and distributes the weight evenly across your shoulders and hips. This makes it comfortable to wear even for extended periods of time.

Made from high-quality cotton and linen, this carrier will reliably accompany you through your child’s early years.

Looking for an ergonomic baby carrier from birth that still fits once your newborn has grown into a toddler? The LIINI® carrier takes your child from 3.5 to 15 kg, which is roughly two and a half years. It keeps your baby close to you and leaves both hands free. And if you're unsure about putting it on, our experts will look at your carrying photos free of charge.

A baby carrier from birth: who is it for?

The carrier is suitable from birth, as soon as your baby weighs 3.5 kg. That makes it a baby carrier for newborns too: if your baby still weighs less than 4 kg, simply roll the waistband twice. The adjustable headrest supports your baby's head until they can hold it up securely on their own.

Carrying correctly: the M position

Carrying ergonomically means your baby sits in the carrier just as they would sit on your arm. This is known as the spread-squat or M position. Seen from the front, the legs and bottom form an 'M'. The knees sit slightly higher than the bottom, the legs are slightly apart and the back is gently rounded.

Once the carrier is on, it's best to check these points:

  • Knees above bottom: the fabric supports the thighs all the way to the backs of the knees.
  • Back slightly rounded: neither arched nor slumped.
  • Head free: the LIINI® instructions are clear on this. Your baby's head must be free and able to move at all times, and their nose and mouth must never face straight into your body.
  • Close to your body: your baby sits snugly against you and doesn't sag. A carrier adjusted too loosely is one of the most common mistakes.
  • Close enough to kiss: your baby's head is so close that you can easily kiss it.

The guide to putting on the LIINI carrier shows you how to put it on step by step and which mistakes often happen. If you have questions about your baby's hip development, talk to your midwife or paediatrician.

Free babywearing advice by photo

Carrying often feels a little strange at first. That's completely normal. That's why the LIINI® carrier comes with a free carrying check: you send our experts some photos, they look at the fit and your baby's position, and they give you tips.

Here's how the free babywearing advice works:

  • Put it on: put on the carrier and sit your baby in it, just as you would on a normal day.
  • Take photos: ask someone to take three photos: from the front and from the side, each down to the hips, and from behind with your hair tied up.
  • Send: fill in the form with your name, email address, LIINI order number and a short description of what you're unsure about. Upload the photos and you're done.

Typical things the check picks up: the legs and bottom don't form an 'M', the back isn't rounded, the headrest isn't being used for a newborn, or the carrier is too loose.

Baby carrier or wrap?

Both can be ergonomic, as long as they fit properly. The main difference is how you handle them.

Carrier with click buckleWrap
Putting onquick, with a buckle and adjustable strapstying it takes some practice
Adjustingvia the straps, waistband and headrestvery precisely, through the way you tie it
Switching between carersadjust the straps for the other personeach person ties it themselves
Shoulderspadded strapswide panels of fabric spread the weight

Which one feels better for you is partly a matter of taste. What matters is the same for both: M position, clear airways and a snug fit.

If you carry your baby on your front, your back stays free for a diaper backpack with nappies, a change of clothes and bottles. And if your baby falls asleep in the carrier, you can lay them down for their daytime nap in a baby cradle with Moses basket.

Frequently asked questions

From when can my baby go in the carrier?

The LIINI® carrier is suitable from birth, as soon as your baby weighs at least 3.5 kg. For newborns under 4 kg, roll the waistband twice. Right from the start, check the M position, clear airways and a well-adjusted headrest. If your baby was born prematurely or you have any health concerns, talk to your midwife or paediatrician first.

How long can I carry my baby in one go?

There's no fixed time limit. Follow your baby's lead: if they get restless, need a fresh nappy, are hungry or want to kick about, it's time for a break. Especially in the first few weeks, shorter stretches of carrying are more comfortable for both of you. Keep an eye on your own back and shoulders too.

When can my baby face forwards?

Only once they can hold their head up securely on their own, and only if the carrier's instructions explicitly allow this position. The instructions set out which carrying positions are approved for the LIINI® carrier. Stick to the manufacturer's guidance and, if in doubt, ask during your free babywearing advice.

Can I use the carrier without a newborn insert?

No separate insert is listed as part of what comes with the LIINI® carrier. You adapt the carrier yourself: for newborns under 4 kg, roll the waistband twice, and the adjustable headrest supports the head. The instructions show you exactly how.

What is the maximum weight for the carrier?

The LIINI® carrier is suitable up to a maximum of 15 kg. That's roughly two and a half years, a little earlier or later depending on your child. You adjust the carrier to fit you using the adjustable straps.

How do I wash the carrier?

According to the instructions, wash the LIINI® carrier by hand and let it air dry. Make sure it's completely dry before you put your baby back in it.

Which is better to start with: a carrier or a wrap?

Both can work from birth, as long as your baby sits in the M position and their nose and mouth are free. A wrap adapts very precisely to you and your baby but takes practice to tie. A carrier with a click buckle is quicker to put on and easy to adjust for a second person. Go with whichever makes you feel more confident.
